American Roadtrip Video

Andy bought a small video camera before we embarked on our American West Coast journey in May. He dedicated a large portion of his holiday to capturing the action, and I will admit that on many occasions I asked him to stop recording and join in the fun, but he patiently told me that 'it would all be worth'.
And so it was..

Click on the below link to watch the 5 minute video, which aptly summarises our journey with H'arby, the RV.

Crankworx

The Cranworx freeride mountain biking festival took over Whistler during the last 10 days. There were different events each day, leading up the major event, the Red Bull Joyride, on Saturday. The event bought thousands to the village, so it was a busy, festive week for all.

James Bigby was visiting Vancouver Island and spontaneously decided to come visit. We did some mountain sightseeing, took him riding to the few nearby lakes, watched some biking and enjoyed catching up over a couple of pints.

The Cheese Rolling Festival

So what is Cheese Rolling?!

Its an annual festival held on Blackcomb mountain, where an 11-pound wheel of cheese is rolled down a hill and crazy people chase after it.  The first contestant to cross the line wins the cheese and other prizes. Yes, its may be a stupid race, but it's hilarious to watch everyone trip and tumble down the hill...

A year older

Friday 10th August was yet another memorable day in Whistler, as Meg turned a year older.

We aptly celebrated this occasion by rafting down the Green River, followed by sunset beverages up Whistler Mountain,  an open-air concert (marking the beginning of a Downhill Bike Festival, Crankworx), and a few drinks at a local pub.

These pics will attempt to do it justice.

Mountain Golf

Last week Meg played her first round of golf ever! She is working at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, so gets free access to this beautiful facility set in mountains.  It was another glorious day in Whistler!
